AMSA-Unsri's Community Outreach division is responsible for community service and development, particularly in the medical and health fields. Community Outreach also has a responsibility to AMSA-Unsri to carry out social activities that have a positive impact and benefit all members.
Event of The Year (EOTY)
Event of the Year (EOTY) is a work program implemented simultaneously by all AMSA universities based on a theme and concept designed by AMSA-Indonesia based on the results of previous competitions. The EOTY implementation for the 2024/2025 management year carries the theme "Empowering Heart Health": Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and avoiding cigarettes and alcohol to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
AMSA-Unsri for Community through Social Action (AURICULA)
The planned work program aims to provide assistance in the form of medical experts to an area in South Sumatra that is in need due to a lack of healthcare facilities and infrastructure. The primary focus of this activity is to bring medical experts from Palembang City to improve the health and well-being of the community through health education and free medical treatment, as well as providing free circumcision services for children in the city.
Visionary Health, See Brighter with AMSA-Unsri (VITREOUS)
The first work program implemented by the CO AMSA-Unsri division for the 2023/2024 tenure was themed "increasing awareness and maintaining children's eye health." The main objective of this work program is to raise awareness of eye health among children, parents, and teachers. Furthermore, this work program provides free eye examinations for children and educates parents, teachers, and children on how to care for their eyes.
Together Unite in Action for Indonesia (TUNICA)
TUNICA in this tenure will raise the theme of "Diabetes Mellitus" which also supports the intervention of the secondary AMSA-Indonesia Blueprint in district 1 as well as the government program to increase public knowledge and awareness about the importance of understanding non-communicable diseases, namely diabetes mellitus. The TUNICA series of Community Outreach will be held for two days, which includes training and a holiday, which will be held blood sugar checks accompanied by a talk show about diabetes mellitus targeting the general public and observer members.
Thalassemia Prevention Initiative with AMSA-Unsri (THRIVE)
The first work program implemented by the CO AMSA-Unsri division for the 2024/2025 tenure is themed "Raising awareness and preventing thalassemia." This program aims to increase public understanding of thalassemia, a genetic disease caused by impaired hemoglobin production. The program's primary focus is providing preventive education on the importance of early detection and preventative measures to minimize the incidence of thalassemia, particularly in Palembang. Furthermore, this work program will collaborate with the Finance division to provide free checkups to the public.
Community Development
Community Development, or fostered villages, is a long-term work program implemented by the community development office. It encompasses engagement, assessment, planning, action planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and transition. This work program aims to improve public health, addressing issues identified through environmental and community health analysis. Community Development is a social work program implemented by each organization within the Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University, over a specific period based on a predetermined theme. The Community Development program, which will be implemented by AMSA-Unsri in the 2021-2025 administrative year, will be conducted offline with a theme to be determined.
Emergency Relief (ER)
This event was held because AMSA-Indonesia held an Emergency Relief work program, a follow-up to the "Tokyo Declaration," in which AMSA-Indonesia is willing to assist countries or cities affected by disasters, especially chapters that have AMSA members. Therefore, AMSA-Unsri, as part of AMSA-Indonesia, participated in implementing this program at AMSA-university.
